From a Brisbane pool to the Olympic podium
Mollie O'Callaghan was born on 2 April 2004 in Brisbane, Australia, and first jumped into a pool at age four — competing within three years.
She announced herself on the world stage at just 17, winning relay gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. By 2023 she had broken one of swimming's most enduring world records, and at Paris 2024 she became individual Olympic champion in the 200m freestyle.
Now among Australia's most decorated swimmers, she has equalled Ian Thorpe's national record for the most world championship gold medals.
